UPDATE TAX PLAN 2023 – PART II

In our newsflash of May 29, we have informed you that the government had send a legislative proposal to Parliament (Tax Plan 2023 – Part II, Belastingplan 2023 – deel II).

We can now inform you that on July 5, 2023, Parliament adopted this legislative proposal. As from August 1, 2023, imports of goods will become a taxable event for BBO/BAZV/BAVP purposes.

Furthermore, in our newsflash of May 29, we have informed you that the Explanatory Memorandum to the Tax Plan 2023 – Part II announced also that the import duty regime will be changed. Those changes are part of a separate legislative proposal, which has not yet been sent to Parliament. However, the adopted legislation contains a temporary legal basis entrusting the Minister with the power to reduce import duties tariffs by ministerial decree, which is expected to take effect on August 1, 2023.
